Belgreen 58, Haleyville 57

The Belgreen Bulldogs built up a ten point first half lead and hung on for dear life defeating the Haleyville Lions 58-57. Jasmine Martin came up big for the Bulldogs with 24 points.

Belgreen outscored Haleyville in each of the first two quarters to take a 31-21 halftime lead. The Haleyville Lions came roaring back in the third quarter outscoring Belgreen 16-8 cutting the Bulldogs’ lead to 30-37.  Haleyville outscored Belgreen 20-19 in the final quarter of action.

“Our girls played well tonight,” said Belgreen coach Patrick Odom.  “Fortunately we built up a good cushion in the first half.  We let them get back in the game in the second half but we were able to get a big win.”

Laken Bragwell added 12 points and Allyson Bragwell added 11 points for Belgreen. Others scoring were Brianna Wood (8) and Shelley Barber (3).

 

Belgreen 61, Covenant 31

The Belgreen Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead over Covenant Christian and coasted to an easy 61-31 win.

Allyson Bragwell led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Jasmine Martin and Laken Bragwell has 12 points each.

Others scoring for Belgreen were Nicole Borden (6), Hannah Taylor (5), Shelley Barber (3), Brooke Williams (2), Kylie Murray (2), and Ann Castillo (2).

 

Rogers 40, Tharptown 19

Shooting woes plagued the Tharptown Wildcats in a 40-19 loss to the Rogers Pirates. Tharptown hit only 5 of 45 shots from the field in the loss.

Tharptown trailed Rogers 10-5 at the end of the first quarter and 22-12 at halftime. The Pirates extended their lead to 30-17 at the end of the third quarter.

Jessica Wilson led the Wildcats with seven points. Others scoring for Tharptown were Savannah Hamilton (5), Kaitlyn Vandiver (3), Haley Malone (2), and Kathy Alfaro (2).

 

Hamilton 57, Tharptown 52

The Tharptown Wildcats lost a close game to the Hamilton Aggies in the Haleyville Thanksgiving Invitational 57-52.

Tharptown jumped out to a 15-9 first quarter lead. The Aggies stormed back to tie the game at halftime 27-27.  Both teams played to a stalemate in the third quarter scoring 13 each. Hamilton outscored Tharptown in the final quarter 17-12 to take the win.

Haley Malone and Kaitlyn Vandiver led the Wildcats with 13 points each. Others scoring for Tharptown were Savannah Hamilton (8), Jessica Wilson (6), Kathy Alfaro (6), Brooke Daniel (5), and Klaudia Harris (2).

 

Good Hope 44, Tharptown 39

Good Hope defeated the Tharptown Wildcats in the Haleyville Thanksgiving Invitational 44-39.  Good Hope was able to stave off a fourth quarter comeback by the Wildcats to hang on to the win. Good Hope outscored Tharptown 17-11 in the first quarter and took a 26-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. Good Hope extended their lead to 39-25 in the third quarter. Tharptown outscored Good Hope 16-8 in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to get the win.

Haley Malone led the Wildcats with 13 points. Kaitlyn Vandiver scored 11 points. Others scoring for Tharptown were Brooke Daniel (5), Jessica Wilson (4), Savannah Hamilton (3), and Kathy Alfaro (3).

 

Phillips 55, Vina 19

The Vina Red Devils struggled early to get shots to fall as they fell to rival Phillips 55-19. Montana Howard led the way for Vina. Also scoring for the Red Devils were Erica Cantrell (4), AnnaBelle Upton (3), Kendra Elrod (1), and Mary Morgan Clingan (1).
