Local students receive NWSCC scholarships

Some local students have ended their academic year by receiving scholarships to Northwest Shoals Community College.

Morgan Humphres, Vina, received an Academic Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

A senior at Vina High School, Morgan is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the track, cross-country, and basketball teams.  She is the Student Government Association Secretary, Homecoming Court Football Queen, Miss Vina High School, and Prom Queen.

Morgan is the daughter of Paul and Stephanie Humphres.  Her grandparents are Hub and Paulette Humphres and Dolores and Wayde Hutcheson.

While at Northwest-Shoals, Morgan will pursue a degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy.

Savannah Smith, Vina, received a Valedictorian Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

A senior at Vina High School, Savannah is a member of the National Honor Society, All “A” Honor Roll, Fellowship of Christian Students, yearbook staff, and Franklin County Junior Leadership.  She also was a T.R.A.C.K.S. Afterschool Program Teacher.

Savannah is the daughter of Johnny and Kristy Smith.  Her grandparents are Mike and Rita Smith and Gail Junior and the late Lee Junior.

While at Northwest-Shoals, Savannah will pursue a degree in Diagnostic Medial Sonography.

Kaylie Ayers, Spruce Pine, received an Academic Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College where she will serve as an Ambassador.

A senior at Phil Campbell High School, Kalie is a member of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Future Business Leaders of America, yearbook staff, National Honor Society, Homecoming Court, and basketball and softball teams.  She is the Senior Class Secretary, Senior Class Favorite Girl, and Who’s Who Most Popular.

Kaylie is the daughter of Heath and Amy Ayers.  Her grandparents are Charles and Elise Swinney and James and Martha Ayers.

While at Northwest-Shoals, Kaylie will pursue a degree in Nursing.

Luke David Baker, Phil Campbell, received a Salutatorian Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

A senior at Phil Campbell High School, Luke is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Student Against Destructive Decisions, yearbook staff, and the football and baseball teams.  He is Student Council Treasurer, Senior Class Treasurer, and Salutatorian.

Luke is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Baker.  His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lynwood Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Baker.
