Grand jury indicts Nathan Weeks
When the Franklin County Grand Jury handed down its indictments for January, it meant seven additional charges for Nathan Weeks, 33, of Phil Campbell.
Weeks, who was arrested in December 2015 on three counts of sexual abuse and was out on bond, was arrested again last week. He now faces six counts of sex abuse second degree, three counts of sex abuse first degree and one count of rape first degree, according to Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing.
Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation arrested Weeks Dec. 17, 2015. Friday, Weeks, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in, prior to posting the $150,000 bond.
“I have known Nathan and his wife – they are good people,” said Weeks’ attorney, Tim Case. “He’s been in law enforcement for quite some time, and I’m going to do the very best I can for him.”
Case said he feels confident that “once the jury sees and understands the facts and circumstances of the charges, we will have a good result.”
Weeks is set to be in court in early February and will be prosecuted by the Winston County District Attorney’s office.
