Mary Lois Willis Mitchell

January 30, 2016

Mary Lois Willis Mitchell, age 85, of Trussville, (formerly of Russellville) went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 30, 2016. She went peacefully in her sleep, holding her daily devotional.

Mary was one of seven children, born to Floyd and Elizabeth Fanny Modenia Willis April 11, 1930. She married the love of her life, Roy Cecil Mitchell, in 1948. She adored each and every one of her many family members and friends, and they adored her. The world lost a beautiful lady, beautiful both inside and out, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

The visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Knights of Pythias Cemetery of Russellville. Officiating the service will be Bro. Jeff Fleming.

She was reunited with Roy, her husband of 57 years; parents, Floyd and Elizabeth Fanny Modenia Willis; siblings, Ozzie Pelham Willis, Madge Evelyn Willis Casteel, Melba Jean Willis Pickett, Floyd Wayne Willis and Will Onynal Willis; and son-in-law, Warren Earl Misso.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Stephen R. Mitchell, Seattle, Wash.; daughters, Joan M. Misso, Trussville, and Denise M. King and husband Warren, Fultondale; grandchildren, Matthew Warren Misso, Allison Michelle Misso Self and husband Jamie and Dylan Steven Misso; great-grandchildren, Lillian Brooke Self, James Pinkney “Jake” Self, Emorie Earl Self and Rebel Jamison Self; great-goddaughter, Sydney Johnson; sister, Martha Ann Barnett; her daughter’s nephews, Brian K. King and Paul M. King; and a host of nieces and nephews.
