Open Bass Tourney to be held for Relay for Life

People will have the chance to reel in the big one – and a sweet prize – at the upcoming 12th Annual Relay for Life Open Bass Tournament.

Will’s Willing Walkers are challenging fishermen everywhere to try their hands – or their rods – at bringing home the biggest and best from Cedar Creek. The tournament will be held March 19 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We have a pretty good turnout,” said Rhonda Boyles, one of the organizers. “Last year we had 30-plus boats.”

Prizes will be awarded to the teams that bring in the most fish by weight, with a five-fish limit.

Entry is $70 per boat plus $10 per boat for lunker with 100 percent payback. There will be a $1,000 grand prize with second place, third place and Lucky #7 prizes determined by the number of entries.

There is a two contestants per boat limit. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass will be counted. Fish must be kept in a live well.

For more contest details or other information, contact Boyles at 256-627-4112 or Jamie Sumerel at 256-762-5123. Boyles thanked fishermen and sponsors for their support of the tournament.
