RHS golf takes first at Brooks Invitational

The RHS boys’ golf team finished first in the Brooks Invitational March 5 at the Robert Trent Jones course in the Shoals, at the Schoolmaster course. The top six boys on the team competed. Eighth grader Eric Boutwell was the low medalist with the even par score of 72, Eli Hodges scored 74, Joshua Seal scored 77, Cameron DeArman scored 82, Tristan Tubb scored 83, Jaceton Murray scored 87, and Braden Bendall who scored a 95. The team shot 306 – 26 strokes better than second-place team West Morgan, 332, and also beating out Brooks, 334, and Haleyville, 343.

The RHS boys’ golf team also competed in a tournament in Montgomery March 1 – the 24th annual Blue-Gray tournament, a 36-hole tourney at Wynlakes CC and Lagoon Park.

The RHS boys’ golf team tied for sixth place out of 24 teams. Eli Hodges tied for second low medalist. Throughout the two-day tournament, Hodges showed his skill by remaining one under par for both days. The five members who went and represented Russellville at the tournament were Hodges with the scores of 71 and 72; Joshua Seal, who scored 77 and 76; Triston Tubb, who scored 82 and 84; Jaceton Murray, who scored 88 and 85; and Eric Boutwell, who rounded the team off with the scores 80 and 81. The combined score of the boys was 310 for the first day and 313 for the second day, which added up to the total of 623.

The girls’ golf team played in the Pirate Classic at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper. The girls’ were runners-up behind winfield in the tournament.
