A beefy scholarship

For the past four years, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians has played a major role in the success of the youth livestock sector of the Southeastern Livestock Exposition. March 19, two young people from Franklin County – Noah Wyatt of Russellville (third from left) and Austin Childers of Vina (not pictured) were awarded the 2016 Star Junior Cattlemen and Premier Exhibitor County awards, based on their aspiration to be part of the livestock industry. Each received a $250 award to apply toward their livestock operations.

Pictured at the awards luncheon, held in conjunction with the 2016 Junior Beef Expo in Montgomery, (left to right) are Billy Smith, PBCI; Kaitlyn Tindell, Geneva; Noah Wyatt, Franklin; Weston Lewis, Houston; Jacob Meadows, Houston; and Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Vice President Jack Batts.
