Marvalene James Coats

Marvalene James Coats, 86, passed away April 20 at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield. She was born in Franklin County to Johnnie Simon James and Claudie Cleo Shewbart James. She had worked as a supervisor at Blue Bell and was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be April 24 at 2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, with Bro. Danny Stanford officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are two children – Ronald Coats and wife Janet, Hodges, and Debra Evans, Burnout; six grandchildren – Ronnie Joe Kennedy and wife Jill, Karen Evans (Gabrielle), Johnnie Coats and wife Marilyn, Natalie Skoumbros and husband Mike, Juliana Inman and husband Andy and Rebecca Peden and husband Kirby; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother – Houston James; and two sisters – Martha Oliver and Barbara Collum (Forby).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Coats, her parents and a sister, Christine Townsend.

Pallbearers will be Jerry James, Terry James, Richard Townsend, Tommy Townsend, Kevin Townsend and Todd James.

Visitation will be April 24 from 1-2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
