“The money goes to communities and back into the ground.” This is a popular phrase among National Wild Turkey Federation members.

In June the NWTF held its annual fundraiser at the A.W. Todd Center. The mission for this group is to “Save the habitat. Save the hunt.” The focus is on preserving the land that animals live on and trying to introduce more people into hunting. Hunters make up the group that cares the most about preserving wildlife habitats, according to the NWTF, and the number of people

involved in hunting is dwindling every year.

The goal for Thursday night’s banquet was to raise funds to preserve more land. They did this by hosting a silent and live auction along with a few drawings. The silent auction pieces ranged from coolers to tents.

The Cedar Hill Trap Shooting team was honored for their success at the state competition. Each member was presented with a NWTF hat and vest.
