Russellville majorettes host Watermelon Festival 5K

Each year the Franklin County Watermelon Festival boasts something for everyone – live music, good eats, plenty of handmade crafts and two days of neighborly fellowship. Another annual attraction in connection with the festival is the 5K and fun run hosted by the Russellville High School majorettes.
The 5k and one-mile fun run fundraiser will be held Aug. 20, with registration starting at 6:45 a.m. The 5K will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. The one-mile fun run will start approximately ten minutes after the last 5K racer finishes the race.
Race will begin at the RHS baseball field, and the run progress in the vicinity of the campus before finishing up with a lap on the track.
Pre-registration fee is $20 for the 5K and $15 for the one-mile fun run. The day of the race, the 5K is $25, and the one-mile fun run will be $20. Pre-registration forms and fees should be received no later than Aug. 13. Everyone who pre-registers on or before Aug. 13 will receive a shirt, and the participants who register the day of will receive a T-shirt based on availability.
Awards for the 5K include Top 3 best overall times, male and female, and master male and female over 40, and 1st and 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given for the following male and female age groups in 5K: 0-10, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.
Awards for the 1-mile fun run will be given to male and female age groups: 0-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-16.
