Gracie Mitchell DeVaney

Gracie Mitchell DeVaney, age 89, Russellville, passed away Nov. 7 at Burns Nursing Home.

Gracie was a long time member and organist at Belgreen Baptist Church. She worked for many years at CB&S Bank as a teller.

The visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon, Nov. 9 at Spry Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Greenhill Ezzell Cemetery with Bro. Randy Hargett and Bro. Brent Hargett officiating.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gertrue DeVaney; parents, Edgar Lee and Lizzie Bell (Johnson) Mitchell; brothers, Benjamin R. Mitchell and Milton Mitchell; and sisters, Hortense Rea, Helen Mitchell and Maedrew Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her nephews, Ronald Benson and wife Donna, Byron Mitchell and wife Ann, Randy Hargett and Tom Johns; nieces, Kaye and husband G.C. Swinney, Nancy Lowe and Paula Cobb and husband Jay; great-nieces, Heather Sharp and husband Heath and Kelli Higgins and husband Craig; great-nephew, Brent Hargett and wife Kristen; great-great-nieces, Hollie Sharp and Meredith Hargett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Maedrew Johns, Virginia and Gene McCalmon and Bill and Ruth Benson; and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Helen Keller Hospital; Maria, Denise and Mary and other staff of Burns Nursing Home; and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for your love and care of our family.
