Roy E. Hughes

Roy E. Hughes, 71, of Franklin County, passed away Nov. 5. His service will be Nov. 8 at 2 pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Jay Clanton officiating. The family will have a private burial at a later date.

Mr. Hughes was a native of Franklin County. He was an awarded veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as an auto body man. He was an avid Nascar and Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Hughes; mother, Marie Greenhill; and son, Mark Steven Hughes.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Sarah Crosswhite; daughter, Melissa Cornelius and husband Jamie; two beautiful granddaughters that he adored, Sarahann Belue and Sydney Cornelius; son, Roy Shannon Hughes and wife Chrissy; step-grandchildren, Aubrey and Max Jackson; brother that truly was his brother’s keeper, Guy Hughes and wife Gloria; sister, Patsy Smith and husband Jimmy; brothers, Doug Greenhill and wife Beth, Bennie Greenhill and wife Michelle and Regis Greenhill and wife Becky.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Angelic and Dawn with Southern Care Hospice. They went beyond their duty with care and compassion.
