Sheriff, commission honor jail administrator Theresa Qualls
The Franklin County Commission and Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver took the time to present a commendation letter, certificate and commemorative pin to Franklin County Jail Administrator Theresa Qualls, in recognition of training recently undertaken.
Qualls completed the four two-day sessions of the Alabama Jail Training Academy to receive instruction and refreshers on jail guidelines for the state, including topics like inmate management, searches and use of force, corrections law and officer responsibilities. Curriculum for the program, which is administered by the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, is set by the National Institute of Jail Operations.
Qualls is now one of about 65 Alabama jailers to complete the program, according to a letter from ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield. County commissioners and Probate Judge Barry Moore congratulated Qualls and thanked her for a job well done in acquiring training that will be “a great asset not only to the sheriff’s office and jail but to Franklin County as a whole,” Moore said.
