The annual Red Bay Founders Day Festival took place Sept. 16 in Bay Tree Park, and many would agree it was well-attended.

A variety of food and craft vendors were on hand, and bands performed throughout the day. The contests of various types, however, might be the most-loved tradition of Founders Day. Winners were named in each contest, including photography, quilts, coloring, cooking, car show and buck dancing.

Winning Pies: 1^st place, Mazie Nix, peach; 2^nd place, M. Prince, pecan; 3^rd place, Debbie Hammock, coconut cream; and Most Unique, Debbie Hammock, banana. Pie contest judges were Andrew Franks, Brenda Turbyfill and Mary Eastep.
