Belgreen Beta competes at state
The Belgreen chapter of the National Beta Club recently attended the Alabama State Beta Club Competition.
The state competition was held at the BJCC in Birmingham April 5-6. A number of Belgreen gave it their best in the gamut of challenges.
Freshman Emma Dempsey finished second in the Division 1 (ninth grade) Language Arts competition. Dempsey will be one of three to represent Alabama in the national ninth-grade Language Arts Competition to be held in Savannah, Ga., in June.
Other students competing at the competition were: Emmie Scoot (sophomore), Division 1 Language Arts; Jasmine Martin (senior), Division 2 Language Arts; Jacob Mayberry (senior) and Trevor Thompson (junior), Division 2 Mathematics; Katie Dempsey (sophomore) and Bailey Oliver (freshman), Division 1 Mathematics; Ansley Tate (sophomore) and Scout Bragwell (freshman), Division 1 Science; Callie Barber (senior), Division 2 Science; Christian Lopez (sophomore), Division 1 Social Studies; Jose Lara Cruz (sophomore), Division 1 Spanish; Meg Sornberger (sophomore), Division 1 Creative Writing; and Ella Wiginton (freshman), Division 1 Public Speaking.
Quiz Bowl team consisted of Jacob Mayberry, Jasmine Martin, Claire Wiginton and Trevor Thompson.
