Dorothy Jean Harris

Dorothy Jean Harris, 85, died Nov. 26 at her residence.

She was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Mississippi to Reggie Thomas Davis and Flossie E. Yarber Davis. She was retired from Southern Rural Health Care Consortium.

A former city clerk in Red Bay, she was a founding member of Bear Creek Development Association. She was a member of the Civitan Club, Red Bay Garden Club and PTA and was always active in community affairs. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Red Bay and a lifetime member of the choir.

Services will be Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with the Rev. Bill Harper and the Rev. Benny Yarber officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery, Belmont, Mississippi. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by one brother, Douglas Davis (Rayma), The Villages, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Edwina Harris, Red Bay; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Harris Jr.; a son, C.M. “Chuck” Harris III; her parents; and a brother, John Paul Davis.

Visitation will be Nov. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
