Bobcats, Tigers split varsity games

UAH signee Abby Davis sank 23 points to help lead the Phil Campbell Bobcats to an easy 62-28 win over the Red Bay Tigers Dec. 6.

Phil Campbell led Red Bay 10-5 at the end of the first quarter but pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Red Bay 21-11 to take a 31-16 halftime lead. The Bobcats led 39-22 at the end of the third quarter before outscoring the Tigers 23-6 in the final period of play.

Caitlyn Mills followed Davis with 16 points for the Bobcats. Katie Thomas and Kallie Allen added nine points.  Kenner Scott scored three points, and Olivia Taylor with got points.

No Tiger hit double figures. Lila Blackburn scored seven points for Red Bay, followed by Reagan Kuykendall and Destiny McCollister with six points each; Mallori Miller with five points; and Cassidy Kuykendall with four points.

In the varsity boys game, Red Bay held Phil Campbell to just eight second-half points on the way to a 60-32 win.

Red Bay led Phil Campbell 20-12 at the end of the first quarter and 33-24 at halftime. The Tigers came out of the halftime locker room with stifling defensive pressure and outscored the Bobcats 22-3 to extend their lead to 55-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Braden Ray led Red Bay with 13 points, and Clay Allison followed with 11 points. Arden Hamilton added eight points, Colton Corum seven points, Hunter Bays six points, Gath Weatherford six points, Noah Brewer five points and Lane Shewbart four points.

Isaac Riddle scored nine points for Phil Campbell, followed by Brett Saint with six points, Luke Garrison with five points, Francisco Jimenez with four points, Ben Williams with three points, Easton Cummings with two points, Austin Baker with one point and Ridge Raper with one point.

In the B-varsity boys game, Red Bay defeated Phil Campbell 47-39 in overtime. Hunter Burks led Red Bay with 13 points, including five points in overtime. Alex Kennedy also hit double figures for the Tigers with 12 points.  Red Bay was 7-for-8 from the free throw line in overtime.

Phil Campbell’s Mason Swinney led all scorers with 23 points. Dylan Jeane added 12 points for the Bobcats.
