RCS holds last BOE meeting of year

The last Russellville City Schools Board of Education meeting for 2018 dealt with a large number of personnel items, from new employment to retirement.

Paige Hargett was approved for a part-time attendance clerk position at Russellville High School effective Dec. 3. Alexa Knight was approved for a teacher position at Russellville Elementary School effective Jan. 3, 2019.

Temporary employment included Monica Balding, Madalan Benford, Meredith Dorroh, Jacob Wallace and Emily Woods as 21st CCLC teachers. Additionally, Jacob Wallace will temporarily fill Alicia Stanford’s leave of absence from Jan. 3 through May 25, 2019. Emily Woods will temporarily fill Ashley Almon’s leave of absence from Jan. 3 through May 25, 2019. Megan Pike will temporarily fill WES speech pathologist Olivia Barksdale’s leave of absence from Jan. 7 through March 22, 2019.

Casey Guynn, math teacher at Russellville Middle School, will be taking a leave of absence from Jan. 3 through Feb. 15, 2019.

Chris Moon was approved as a volunteer for the 2018-19 athletic program with girl’s golf.

Stacy Rackley, teacher at RMS, was approved for resignation effective Dec. 9.

Judy Burcham, Pre-K teacher at WES, was approved for retirement effective Feb. 1, 2019.

Lisa Gann was approved to transfer from being a Pre-K auxiliary teacher to a Pre-K teacher at WES effective Feb. 1, 2019.

Other actions taken at the meeting included:

  • Approving the use of the West Elementary gym Jan. 23-24, 2019, for the RHS cheerleaders’ mini cheer clinic.
  • Approving RMS to host the RMS Invitational Tournament Jan. 5, 2019, for the Scholar’s Bowl Team.
  • Approving Addie’s Flip Tip & Tap to use the RHS Auditorium to sponsor its annual dance recital May 18, 2019, with practice dates May 14 and 17.
  • Approving the 2018-19 athletic schedule for spring sports.
