Vina girls get wins to close regular season

Five players scored in double figures as the Vina Red Devils defeated the Brilliant Tigers 77-59 in recent basketball action.

Rayleigh Guinn led Vina with 17 points and 11 assists. Sara Scott followed with 16 points. Kaitlyn King and Sarah Johnson scored 15 points each. Johnson also had 12 rebounds.

Emma Humphres had 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Abbie Petree contributed one point.

Vina led Brilliant 25-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 43-25 at halftime. Brilliant mounted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Vina 22-15 to cut the Red Devils’ lead to 58-47, but Vina outscored Brilliant 19-12 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Vina 49, Waterloo 29

Guin had a triple double to lead the Vina Red Devils past the Waterloo Cougars 49-29.

Guin tallied 12 points, 12 assists and 11 steals, also going eight-for-10 from the free-throw line in the win.

Vina led Waterloo 13-4 at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 29-13 at halftime. Vina stretched the lead to 41-19 at the end of the third quarter.

Humphres followed Guin with nine points and 14 rebounds. Scott had nine points and 10 rebounds. King added six points, Johnson five points, LaDiva Davis four points and Kaitlyn Athey two points.
