Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Everyone is counting on 2019 to be a great year for all. So far things are not looking so good.

The government shut down is putting fear in the hearts of so many people. Maybe the leaders in this country can begin to work toward ending this terrible mess.

A record number of our friends passed away last month, and that never makes for a happy time, but despite all of this we are still very blessed people, so let’s hope that all will be well.

I have had several readers of Homefolks U.S.A. ask me questions I cannot answer – like the location of many of the old schools, some I have never heard of. I always tell them to check with the Franklin County Archives. A world of information is available there, and they have folks who can answer most any question you have on your mind. I tell everyone the archives in Franklin County is the best-kept secret, but it does not have to be. They always welcome folks to come and browse around or ask questions, and they have a wealth of information to offer.

I am really looking forward to the spring of 2019 – less than two months away. This is my favorite season of the year. When the buttercups begin to bloom, and we see the robins and the red birds appear, we know spring is just around the corner.

God made all the seasons, so let’s enjoy them and count our many blessings.

We are happy to see our downtown becoming more active, especially on Friday nights. We are seeing and hearing so many good things about the restaurant in downtown, Doe’s Eat Place. Many folks from Florence and the Tri-Cities have been paying a visit, and we are always happy to see new people visit our town.

The talk is a new drugstore will be coming to downtown, sometime in the future, and that will be great.

Thanks for reading our stories each week. We will try to improve them and offer new stories that will be of interest to all.

Till next time,

Your friend,

Bobby
