Red Bay boys sweep Sheffield

The Red Bay Tigers swept the Sheffield Bulldogs last week, 10-5 and 17-7.  The Tigers also got wins over Phillips and Belmont, 16-3 and 7-2.

In game one of the Sheffield series, Red Bay jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Sheffield cut the Tigers’ lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning before Red Bay pulled away late in the game for the 7-3 win.

Chase Allen got the win for the Tigers, going seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out seven batters and walking one.

Red Bay racked up 16 hits on the day. Kaleb Bragwell, Allen, Cade McKinney, Petyon Green and Kolby Bragwell all had a multiple-hit day.

In game two of the series, Sheffield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but that lead was short-lived. Red Bay scored four runs in the bottom half of the first and four runs in the bottom of the second to race out to an 8-4 lead.

Green got the win for the Bulldogs, allowing six hits and five runs over five and a third innings, striking out two batters.

Red Bay collected nine hits in the game. Kaleb Bragwell, Kolby Bragwell and Green all had two hits on day for the Tigers.

In another game last week, Red Bay easily beat the Phillips Bears 16-3. Red Bay put the game away early, scoring six runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning to take a 12-0 lead.

Red Bay also beat Belmont (Miss.) Saturday 7-2.
