Weatherford Library announces summer reading program
The Weatherford Library in Red Bay has announced its Summer Reading Program for 2019: A Universe of Stories. The theme this year is all things outer-space related.
The program will run May 28 through June 25, every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon., and is open to kindergarten through sixth-grade students.
Weatherford Library will host story hour every Tuesday, during which someone from the community or schools will read to the children. Library director Linda Ezzell said sometimes older students from the T.R.A.C.K.S. program at Red Bay will serve as guest readers, and in the past, the Mayor has even stopped by to read.
Registration isn’t necessary for the free summer ready program, but if parents or guardians would like to register their children, they are welcome to. Ezzell said about 60 children usually participate each summer, making it a great form of socialization for the youth in the community.
At the end of the program, participants will receive certificates themed T-shirts.

Russellville Public Library updates hours
The Russellville Public Library has updated its hours of operation in thopes of increasing the availability of resources, according to director Ashley Cummins.
“By opening an hour earlier and adding Mondays, we hope to make it easier for people to get to the library on their own schedule,” she said.
The library will now be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
