Red Bay maintains undefeated region record with win over Tharptown
The Red Bay Tigers finished off an unbeaten run through Class 2A, Region 7 with a 50-0 shutout win over the Tharptown Wildcats Thursday night.
The Tigers led 23-0 at the end of the first quarter and 43-0 at halftime en route to the easy win.
Red Bay totaled 408 total yards while limiting the Wildcats to 35 total yards in the game.
Jalen Vinson completed seven of 12 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Hunter King ran the ball 13 times for 119 yards and a score.
The Tigers scored on their first drive of the game on a four-yard run by Colyn Humphres. Humphres added the two-point conversion run to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead.
Red Bay scored again with 5:10 to go in the first quarter on an 8-yard run by King. The two-point conversion pass from Vinson to Arden Hamilton was good to extend the Tigers’ lead to 16-0.
Red Bay scored its third touchdown of the quarter with 2:45 to go on a 74-yard pass from Vinson to Hamilton. King kicked the point after to give the Tigers a 23-0 lead.
Vinson completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Humphres for the first of three second-quarter scores. King added the PAT to give Red Bay a 30-0 lead.
King added another score with 4:18 to go in the first half on a one-yard run to give Red Bay a 36-0 lead.
The Tigers closed out the half with a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown by Kaleb Bragwell to give Red Bay the 43-0 halftime lead.
Red Bay added a final score in the closing second of the third quarter on a 44-yard run by Jake Pounds.
Red Bay closes out their season with a chance to go undefeated at Wilson Friday night. The Wildcats will close out their season by hosting the Vina Red Devils Friday.
