Memorial tourney gets golf enthusiasts on greens to support football club
Redmont Country Club in Red Bay hosted the annual Fred G. Bostick Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday and Sunday. It was blazing hot – but not hot enough to keep more than 200 hundred golfers off the course.
“We had a great tournament,” said Marco Bostick. “It was our biggest tournament ever. I am thankful for everyone who came out to support this tournament and Red Bay football.”
There were 76 three-man teams that participated in the tournament. The three-man scramble format tournament is played every year to benefit the Red Bay Quarterback Club in memory of Fred G. Bostick Jr.
The tournament awarded winners in three flights: Championship Flight – Austin Sparks, Nick Sparks and Aaron Jackson; 1st Flight – Danial Sing, Blaine Farris and Brandon Robbins; and 2nd Flight – Marco Bostick, Casey Keeton and Tra Elliot.
“It is a huge fundraiser for us,” said Adam Hester. “It is something for the public to see the kids working toward a goal. Players get to meet and greet people who support the program. So, it works both financially and socially for our players.”
