Phil Campbell Bobcat teams get big wins

A big second half effort by the Phil Campbell Bobcat girls led to a 56-53 win over the vaunted Deshler Tigers this past week at the Keith Davis Memorial Tournament at Lauderdale County High School.

Phil Campbell jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter, but the Tigers came back to take a 30-28 lead at halftime.

Kaitlynn Mills hit three three-pointers and scored 11 points in the third quarter to help the Bobcats retake the lead, 44-38. Olivia Taylor scored six points in the fourth quarter to help hold off the Tigers at the end.

Mills led the Bobcats with 19 points, followed by Katie Thomas with 13 points. Taylor added nine points. Kenner Scott, Madison Branch and Faith Cook finished the game with five points each.

Phil Campbell 42, Wilson 23

The Lady Bobcats had no problem beating the Wilson Warriors last week, 42-33.

Taylor led the Bobcats with 14 points. Others scoring were Mills with eight points, Trinity Thomas with seven points, Cook with five points, Katie Thomas with five points, Scott two points and Branch with one point.

Phil Campbell 78, Shoals Christian 34

The Phil Campbell boys had four players in double figures for an easy 78-34 win over the Shoals Christian Flame.

Canaan Clay led the Bobcats with 17 points. He was followed by Luke Garrison with 14 points, Mason Swinney with 13 points and Bryant Hyde with 10 points. Quentin Hyde added nine points, Kyle Pace eight points, Jonah Fisher three points and Dylan Jeane two points.
