Vina captures first ever B-Varsity Girls title

Five players are all that is needed to play basketball. In the first-ever B-Varsity Girls division of the Franklin County Tournament, there were two teams – Vina and Phil Campbell – and each team had exactly five players.  No room for foul trouble.

Vina bested Phil Campbell 24-13 to claim the first-ever B-Varsity Girls title.

The Red Devils led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 14-11 by halftime. Vina held Phil Campbell scoreless in the third quarter, extending their lead even more to 20-11 and cruising to the win.

Khylee Brooks led Vina with seven points. Kaley Attaway and Keyara Umfress scored six points each. Autumn Chandler added three points and Jalyn Shotts two points.

Tosha Trapp and Madison Harper scored four points each for Phil Campbell. Madalynn Mann and Chesney Hamby scored two points each. Patience Mays added one point.
