Signing for softball with Northwest

Two Franklin County softball players earn scholarships to play with the newly-formed Northwest-Shoals Community College Patriots. After going through a tryout with the Patriots, Phil Campbell third baseman Jade Roberson and Belgreen catcher Madison Vandiver will continue their careers with NWSCC.

I am really excited to have both of them be a part of the return of softball to Northwest-Shoals,” said NW-SCC head coach Angel Brown. “They both exhibit what it means to be a student-athlete on and off the field. This area is full of talent, and I am so glad they have both chosen to stay close to home. Both girls recently attended our Patriot Showcase Camp. It was there where I was able to really isolate them in reps to see their abilities.”

Brown called Vandiver “a true utility who can catch. She has a team-first mentality. She is willing to do whatever is best for her team to win.” Roberson she praised for bringing “experience at both outfield and behind the plate. We are looking forward to adding her leadership and competitive spirit to the team.”
