Red Bay wins area series over Sheffield

The Red Bay Tigers scored a sweep over the Sheffield Bulldogs to get a big area win this past week. The Tigers beat the Bulldogs 14-7 and 12-2.

In game one against Sheffield, Red Bay’s B.P. Blair homered, had five RBIs and scored three times to lead the way for the Tigers. Harley Strickland had two hits and three RBIs and scored three times. Jeremiah Thorne doubled, had two RBIs and scored. Dallas Terrell had two hits and two RBIs.

Red Bay broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the third inning on a three-run homer by Blair to make the score 7-3. Sheffield cut the lead to 8-7 in the top of the sixth before the Tigers rattled off six runs in the bottom half of the inning.

In game two, Sheffield led 1-0 after two innings, but Red Bay scored three in the third, three in the fifth and five in the sixth to blow the game open.

Eli Farris doubled and had three RBIs. Reed Hamilton had a hit and three RBIs. Ty Reynolds had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Red Bay also beat Vina earlier in the week 20-2. In the Vina game, Red Bay pounded out 17 hits in the blowout win over the Red Devils.

Strickland pitched a one-hit game, giving up one earned run and striking out eight.

Several bats were hot, led by Landyn Lewey and Ty Reynolds. Lewey went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and scored twice. Reynolds had a single, double and triple and knocked four runs.

Carson McGee went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and scored a run. Blair had two hits, two RBIs and scored three times.

Thorne doubled, had two RBIs and scored three times. Hamilton scored three times as well.
