RHS softball improves to 2-0 in area with victory over Ardmore

The Russellville varsity softball team improved to 2-0 in area play with a 9-1 road win over the Ardmore Tigers.

Brooklyn Butler led the No. 6 ranked in 5A Lady Golden Tigers to victory with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate including a home run and four RBI. RHS also got hits from Kristin McGlaughn, Addison Holcomb, Emma Campbell, Khristyan Huerta and Bryleigh Butler. Paislee James and Jemma Moore added RBI.

Jacey Moore went the distance in the pitching circle for Russellville. Moore allowed three hits and struck out 13 batters.

The Lady Golden Tigers then traveled to the other end of the state for the Orange Beach Tournament. Russellville went 1-4 in Orange Beach versus talented competition to bring the season record of the Lady Golden Tigers to 14-10-1.

On March 21, RHS was no-hit by No. 1 in 4A Orange Beach High and lost by a score of 11-0 to the Makos. The following day, Russellville lost 10-1 to both Faith Academy and Ocean Springs.

Addison Holcomb had a double versus Faith and RHS also got hits from Paislee James, Ticelee Gholston, Brooklyn Butler, Bryleigh Butler and Jacey Moore. The Russellville RBI came from Moore’s bat.

Ocean Springs outhit RHS 8-4 in the four-inning contest. Russellville’s hits were by James, Holcomb, Bryleigh Butler and Huerta. The Russellville RBI was by Huerta.

RHS started play on Saturday in Orange Beach with a 16-0 blowout win over Greenville in a three-inning game.

James had three hits and two RBI, and Holcomb hit a home run and had two RBI. Bryleigh Butler and Jemma Moore had two hits each, while Gholston, Brooklyn Butler, Campbell and Huerta also hit safely. Gholston had two RBI while Butler, Campbell and Moore added one each. Jacey Moore pitched and allowed one hit and no walks. The senior struck out three batters.

The final game in Orange Beach for RHS was an 11-1 loss to the Makos. Brooklyn Butler had two hits, and she was joined in the hit column by Holcomb and Jacey Moore. The Russellville RBI was from Holcomb’s bat.
