Jimmy A. Massey, 72, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at ECM Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Franklin County to Marshall David and Geneva Inez Humphries Massey. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at New Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Services were Sunday, June 30, 2013, at New Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Philamlee and Bro. Bobby Massey officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mayola Massey, of Red Bay; four children, Mark Massey and wife, Linda, Rhonda Hardin and husband, Jimmy, Beverly Kennedy and husband, Mike, and Jarod Massey and wife, Kristin, all of Red Bay; 10 grandchildren, Candi Weaver, Chasity Franks, Nathan Gray, Lauren Gray, Colt Hardin, Allie Kennedy, Alex Kennedy, Anna Kate Kennedy, Andrew Massey and Addie Massey; two great grandchildren, Melee Weaver and Abryanna Franks; two sisters, Linda James and Kathy Coats and husband, Harold; one brother, Bobby Massey; special family member, Freda Massey; host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nella Jean Massey.

Pallbearers were Joel Bolding, Gerald Collum, Larry Haithcock, Andrew Franks, Greg Strickland and Tony Massey. Honorary pallbearers were Colt Hardin, Nathan Gray, Alex Kennedy and Andrew Massey.
