Man arrested for using lost credit card

A Tuscumbia man was arrested Thursday after authorities said he allegedly used a lost credit card to purchase items at local businesses.

Michael Wayne Montgomery, 30, 505 Dickson St., Tuscumbia, was arrested for fraudulent use of a debit/credit card and second-degree theft of property, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.

According to Hargett, a Russellville resident reported he had lost his credit card at a local store on Oct. 18.

Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said the person who obtained the card began using it the same day at local businesses to make several purchases.

Lowery said during the course of the investigation, the police department was able to obtain surveillance video from one of the local stores where the card was used.

Lowery said community tips from the surveillance video ultimately led to Montgomery being linked to the crime.
