The Russellville Golden Tigers golf team came in second at the Arab Invitational at Cherokee Ridge last week.

Hartselle took the win with a score of 312, just four strokes under Russellville’s score of 316. Other scores were: Athens – 322; Muscle Shoals White – 330; Muscle Shoals Red – 331; Walker – 333; Hazel Green – 333; Arab – 338; Scottsboro – 352; James Clemmons – 354; Brewer – 517.

Russellville’s Eli Hodges shot a 75 and placed fourth overall out of 61 players. Joshua Seal shot a 76 and placed fifth overall; and Luke Bendall shot a 78 and placed eighth overall.

“I was very proud of the round the guys put together,” coach Jason Haithcock said.

“We are were almost firing on all cylinders. I think last week’s 54-hole grind helped us work out some of our bugs and get some valuable rounds under our belt.

“I hope we can take this round and move forward and become an even better golf team. We still haven’t reached our full potential but we are headed in the right direction.”
