Golden Tiger tennis players advance to state

Although the Russellville High School girls tennis team will miss the chance to move on to state this year, a doubles team will have the chance to represent the Lady Golden Tigers at the state level.

RHS’ Grace Mitchell and Maleia Gist won in their doubles matches, so they will be advancing to state and will finish the season undefeated in this area.

“I’m so proud of all my girls. They have worked very hard this year and improved so much,” said Coach Kim Hood. “Our team narrowly missed a chance at going to state as an entire team, but our doubles one court remained undefeated in our section throughout the year. They qualified for state as an individual court.

“I’m happy with the way they finished their season and look forward to a great season next year.”

The RHS boys tennis team also played in sectionals Monday; the entire team won and will be advancing to state.
