RCS promotes new website feature

The Russellville City School System now has a separate link on the district website devoted to information about the Out of District Policy that will take effect in the 2016-2017 school year.

The link can be accessed from the DISTRICT drop-down menu, located at the far left of the top toolbar on the RCS homepage. After clicking on the Out of District Information link, users will be directed to several documents aimed at helping parents and the community transition more smoothly into implementing this new policy beginning in August.

Links for the Out of District Application in both English and Spanish, an explanation of the policy and Frequently Asked Questions can all be found in this new tab.

“We want to make sure our parents, students and community members are fully aware of what is going on with this policy, why we are implementing it and how it will affect them,” RCS Superintendent Heath Grimes said. “By putting all of this information in once place, we hope it will make the process a little easier and give those who have questions a place to find out pertinent information in a timely manner.”

Grimes said most questions about residency requirements, needed documents, who will be affected and why the policy is being implemented can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions section.

“We’ve heard from several parents and have tried to take questions we’ve been getting as well as anticipate questions others might have and put those answers all in one place,” Grimes said. “And of course if a parent or guardian has a question that is not answered in this section, we urge them to contact their child’s school to make sure they are fully informed about the new policy.”

The RCS district website can be accessed at www.rcs.k12.al.us.
