Dorothy Hester Jarnigan

Dorothy Hester Jarnigan, age 86, Red Bay, passed away Sept. 1 at Helen Keller Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

The visitation will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 3 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral following at 4 p.m. Speaking at the service will be Kenneth Baggett, Curtis Baggett and Dean Sawyer. Burial will be in the adjourning church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Hattie (Wood) Hester; sisters, Audrey Grissom, Mildred Hester, Annie Mary Hester and Pauline Pruden; brothers, Veto Hester and D.B. Hester; and granddaughter, Allison Pearson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 66 years, Gerald Jarnigan; her legacy of seven daughters, Jane Grassel and hsuband Nick, Jeannette Pearson and husband Danny, Juanita Baggett and husband Kenneth, Diane Baggett and husband Doug Carl, Denise Coston and husband Ralls, Helen Allen and husband Gary and Susan Sawyer and husband Dean; grandchildren, Alaina Ramey and husband Caleb, Lacey Nasman and husband Kristoffer, Adrienne Pearson, Karen Crow and husband Brett, Danielle Sawyer, Justin Leathers and wife Kathee, Nickolas Grassel, Curtis Baggett and wife Jennifer, David Grassell, Kevin Baggett and wife Michelle and Derrick Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Hattie and Lydia Ramey, Paul and Pierce Baggett and Autumn, Ruby and Everly Leathers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be the grandsons, Nickolas Grassel, David Grassel, Curtis Baggett, Kevin Baggett, Justin Leathers and Derrick Sawyer. The honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Alaina Ramey, Adrienne Pearson, Lacey Nasman and Danielle Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial to Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Cedar Creek Cemetery or to the National Gideons.
