Country music singer/songwriter Jarred Pierce is set to release his second EP to iTunes and other online music retailers Sept. 9, and Pierce said this new collection of songs will showcase how he has developed as an artist.

“I’ve found my sound and where I belong,” Pierce said. “It takes time as you’re growing as an artist to find yourself in your song … Sitting in the studio, it makes you smile when you’ve finally found your sound and who you are.”

“Who he is” is an artist whose fame has only continued to grow since he signed with Press Management Group and released “It’s Going Down” last year: Pierce has opened for Jana Kramer and The Secret Sisters, as well as played at the famed Bluebird Cafe; he also inked an endorsement deal with Treezyn Camo and signed on to a starring role in an upcoming hunting TV show, Wicked Ridge Outdoors. The connection to the outdoors is a theme Pierce said comes out clearly in the six-song “Boys and Arrows.”

“That’s just who I am. Since I was 5 years old I spent a lot of time outdoors in the woods, raised up hunting and fishing,” Pierce said. With those outdoors roots infused into his music, “the sound is going to be different than the last EP, a little bit,” Pierce said. “It’s more fast songs than slow – that’s me –” and he has also mixed more rock into the country twang. “I think people will like it. I feel like this EP is different than anybody I’ve ever heard. Everybody out there is looking for different.”

Although Pierce officially made the move to Tennessee’s “Music City” last year ­– “The connections I’ve made in Nashville are connections every artist is looking for” – he still makes time to get back to his Frog Pond roots, where his wife and 5-month-old son Cohen are still living to be near family.

Through social media, Pierce gets a very real picture of how far his career is spreading. He said he gets requests to visit and sing in towns all over the nation. “The outdoor industry I’m working in is growing my music. I’m reaching out to different people all over the United States now,” he said. “That’s what I wanted from the start. I wanted to grow this thing from the grassroots, and that’s what I’ve done. It takes a long time, but I feel like we’re moving in the right direction. It really does make you feel good.”
