Jackie Lee Laster

Jackie Lee Laster, 57, Russellville, passed away Jan. 26 at his residence.

Jackie was born Dec. 18, 1959, to James Russell and Essie Laster. He had a love for police officers, was an avid Alabama fan and loved all music, especially Garth Brooks. He never went anywhere without his pocket knives, of which he had quite a collection.

Jackie’s visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 27 at Spry Memorial Chapel, for which the family would like to invite everyone to wear Alabama colors in memory of Jackie. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bobby Bolton speaking at the service. Burial will be at Bethsaida Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Russell and Essie (Johnson) Laster, and brothers, Pelham Bryce Laster and Thomas James Laster.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Rose Abbott and husband Anthony; brother, Ray Laster and wife Helen; sister-in-law, Minnie Laster; nieces and nephews, Angela Abbott and husband Lee, Sheena Hamm and husband Doc, Shannon Smith and wife Judy, William Laster, Anthony Laster and wife Stephanie and Barry Laster and wife Pat; great-nephews and niece, Justin Abbott and wife Rachel, Josh Abbott and Emma Hamm; a host of other nieces and nephews; special family friend, Karen Nolen and husband Clay; and Jackie’s imaginary friend, Bob, his flying truck and his dog, Billy.

The pallbearers will be PeeWee Copeland, DaKota Nolen, Anthony Laster, Josh Abbott, Barry Laster, Justin Abbott, Zac Nolen and Clay Nolen. Honorary pallbearer will be Kent Shannon.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Russellville Hospital and Hospice of North Alabama for their love and care of the family.
