Tharptown gets three blowout wins over Cherokee

The Tharptown Wildcats had five players in double figures in an easy 74-48 win over the Cherokee Indians Monday night.

Winston Nolen scored nine of his game-high 20 points in the first quarter, helping Tharptown speed out to a 21-10 first quarter lead. Tharptown extended the lead to 47-23 by halftime and 67-33 by the end of the third quarter.

Following Nolen was Ruben Alfaro with 12 points. Colton Simmons and Edward Lopez had 11 points each. Carson Petree added 10 points. Les Montgomery finished the game with five points and Alex Flores with three points.

Varsity girls

Brooke Daily led the way for the Wildcats with 16 points in route to an easy 61-27 win.

Tharptown led 17-4 at the end of the first quarter and 37-8 by halftime to coast to the win.

Following Daily was Adriana Borden with 11 points. Shaylee Wieting and Gracie Montgomery added eight points each. Kaitlyn Simmons, Macy Petree, Catie Dawson and Aly Vandiver pitched in four points each.

B-varsity boys

Luis Valdez hit four of the teams 10 three-pointers and scored 21 points to lead Tharptown to a 53-16 win over Cherokee.
