It has been more than a month since the worship center at 127 N. Jackson Ave., in Russellville collapsed and the property was deeded over to the city. At the Dec. 3 city council meeting, the council and Mayor David Grissom approved a resolution regarding the future of the building.

The resolution declares the building surplus property and “no longer needed for public use.” It states the “disposition and relinquishment of such property is in the best interest of the city.”

The city will be accepting sealed bids for the property until noon Dec. 17. The highest responsible bidder will be selected at the city council meeting that evening.

Other actions taken at the meeting include:

• Approving a resolution commending the Russellville City Schools Youth Leadership Academy.
• Approving a resolution entering into an agreement with ALDOT-TAPAA-TA16(914)S1 Supplemental Agreement Number 1 for Madison Street, Lauderdale Street and Coffee Avenue.
• Holding a public hearing to solicit comments regarding the proposed vacation of the public street entering into Brightwood Estates. Nobody spoke at the public hearing.
• Approving a resolution to vacate the public street entering into Brightwood Estates.
• Approving a resolution declaring a 2005 Crown Victoria as surplus property in the Russellville Police Department.
• Approving the contract with police chaplain Bobby Brown.
• Approving the request from the Russellville Middle School volleyball team to waive the rental fee for the A.W. Todd Centre Jan. 10, 2019.
• Approving the request from the Russellville High School football team to waive the rental fee for the A.W. Todd Centre Jan. 24, 2019.
