RHS girls pick up two wins

Russellville 5, Austin 1

The Lady Golden Tigers hosted Austin March 7 and used a four-run sixth inning to get the victory.

“She pitched a great game,” said Russellville head coach Kathryn Montgomery. “We’ve been battling a little bit with throwing strikes, but she was able to come out tonight with the right mindset and pound the zone the way we needed her to, and once she got ahead, she was able to throw her movement or off-speed pitches, and it really helped us all.”

Russellville scored a run in the bottom of the third to tie the score when Jenna Whitfield doubled home Alivia Clemmons. The game remained even until the sixth, when RHS broke it open.
