Congratulations to winning county softball, baseball tourney winners

For high school baseball and softball fans across Franklin County, there might be no more exciting event during the spring season of action on the diamond than the varsity county tournaments.

We’d like to congratulate the Bobcat boys for their supremacy in the baseball tournament, grabbing the championship by shutting out Vina and Tharptown and beating Red Bay 11-3 in the finals. In the softball tournament our congratulations go to the Wildcat girls, who pulled out the victory after beating Phil Campbell and Belgreen decisively and taking down the Red Bay Tigers twice.

We know all of our local student-athletes have been giving their very best this season, representing their schools well on the field.

It’s amazing how quickly the spring sports season is flying by. We wish all of our teams the best of luck as game schedules wind to a close.

For Phil Campbell boys and Tharptown girls, their victories in the Franklin County tournaments will certainly stand as highlights of the 2019 season.

If you know one of these winning students, be sure to take the opportunity to give them a high five or a slap on the back and tell them how proud you are. Everyone enjoys a little praise now and then – and these scores of young people certainly deserve it.
