The Phil Campbell Bobcat offense did its part Friday night, racking up 292 yards of total offense and scoring 28 points. The defense, however, couldn’t find a way to stop the power attack of Clements and running back Jairrice Pryor, and the Colts beat the Bobcats 44-27.

The Colts surpassed the Bobcats with 377 yards in total offense, 272 of which came on the ground by Pryor.

Pryor scored four of the Colts’ touchdowns, eclipsing another stellar night by Bobcat running back Trey Leindecker. Leindecker carried the ball 11 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns while also catching six passes for 72 yards and another score.

Phil Campbell snatched an early lead, taking the first drive of the game to paydirt.  Leindecker capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run, and Abraham Gonzalez added the extra point to give the Bobcats a 7-0 lead with 10:05 to go in the first quarter.

Clements returned the kickoff 81 yards to cut Phil Campbell’s lead to 7-6.  

After stopping the Bobcats on a three-and-out, the Colts scored on their first play from scrimmage with Pryor going 67 yards for the score to take a 12-7 lead with 6:57 to go in the first quarter.

Clement added another touchdown midway through the second quarter to increase that lead to 20-7.

Phil Campbell got back on the board on 55-yard touchdown run by Leindecker with six minutes to go in the half. Gonzalez’s kick cut Clements’ lead to 20-14.

Clements increased the lead to 26-14 midway through the third quarter on a two-yard pass.

The Bobcats responded quickly, with Luke Barnwell connecting with Leindecker for a 60-yard touchdown pass to cut Clements’ lead to 26-20. The Gonzalez kick was blocked, ending his consecutive extra point string at eight.

The Colts added another touchdown early in the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 32-20, but Phil Campbell cut the Colts’ lead again on a 35-yard run by Leindecker with 8:24 to go in the game.

Clements, however, scored two unanswered touchdowns late in the fourth quarter for the region win.

Phil Campbell is 1-1 in region play. The Bobcats will play out of region for two straight weeks, traveling to Vina Friday night and hosting Phillips in two weeks for homecoming.
