Things have been quiet on high school football fields lately, but a group of Russellville Golden Tigers are still drawing interest from colleges and universities that are looking for talented players.

Fall 2020 will be the senior season for four standouts on the RHS defense who are catching the attention of a number of coaches at the next level.

Inside linebacker Brooks Scott is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound tackling machine who has already received offers from Birmingham-Southern College and Bethel College. Scott is a versatile athlete who also shines on the basketball court, and he can be found in the spring participating in track and field at RHS.

In addition to his college offers, Scott has also been invited to the Hawaii Tiki Bowl in Honolulu, which is scheduled for January 2021 at Aloha Stadium.

Angel Moreno is a 5-foot-11, 250-pound leader on the defensive front for head coach John Ritter’s team. Moreno also has received an offer to continue his playing career at Bethel College for the Threshers.

BC is an NAIA school located in North Newton, Kansas, and is a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Moreno and Scott aren’t the only Golden Tigers who have received interest from Kansas. Offensive lineman Edgar Amaya is committed to the University of Kansas, and he is still receiving offers from other interested college coaching staffs from across the country.

Russellville’s secondary is full of talent returning for the 2020 season, and corners Caden Watts and Ashaad Williams are leading the way. Williams is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back who has the ability to match up against top receivers, while Watts is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back who also shines on Friday nights.

Watts has an offer from Birmingham-Southern, while Williams is getting interest from schools such as Columbia University and Chattanooga.
