Belgreen’s Emma Dempsey has big games against Sheffield

Emma Dempsey had two big nights of scoring against the Sheffield Bulldogs during the Thanksgiving holiday week.

Dempsey scored 27 points and 29 points in the two games against the rival Bulldogs.

In game one, Dempsey scored 27 points as Belgreen beat Sheffield 56-32. She scored 17 in the second half.

Belgreen led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Sheffield outscored Belgreen 14-9 in the second quarter to cut Belgreen’s lead to 29-20 at halftime.

Belgreen reclaimed the advantage in the third quarter, extending the lead to 42-28 before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Kaley Chandler followed Dempsey with 11 points. Noelle Willingham had eight points, and Dacota Green snagged four points. Felicia Campos, Madison Vandiver and Katie Cooper scored two points each.

In the second matchup between the two teams, Dempsey scored 29 points in the 61-35 win over Sheffield.

She scored 11 points in the first quarter to help Belgreen to a big 21-5 first quarter lead. Belgreen increased that lead to 32-13 by halftime.

Dempsey scored 11 more points in the third quarter to help Belgreen build an even bigger advantage, 48-24.

Chandler made three three-pointers and scored 15 points to be the second leading scorer for the Bulldogs.

Willingham scored six points, and Green had five points.  Hannah Borden, Vandiver and Cooper scored two points each.
