Red Bay girls roll to wins over holidays

Destiny McCollister led the Red Bay Tigers to wins over East Lawrence and Lamar County this past week.  McCollister scored 25 points in a 49-38 win over Lamar County and 19 points in a 51-28 win over East Lawrence.

Red Bay trailed Lamar County 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, but McCollister scored 12 points in the second quarter to help lead the Tigers to a 28-16 halftime lead. Red Bay was able to hang on to the lead and the win.

Macy Faulkner followed McCollister with 13 points. Lila Blackburn added five points. Jaycee Vinson, Emma McCollister and Madeline Ledbetter scored two points each.

In the East Lawrence game, solid defense in the second quarter helped lift Red Bay to the win. Lamar County and Red Bay were tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers stifled the Bulldogs in the second quarter, holding them to two points. Red Bay led 22-12 at halftime.

The Tigers extended their lead to 41-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Emma McCollister had nine points, Faulkner eight points, Blackburn seven points, Ledbetter five points and Kaylie Lindley two points.
