BHS teams play to winning week

The Belgreen Bulldog boys improved to 13-2 last week with wins over Sulligent, Phillips and Hackleburg twice.

The Bulldogs were never challenged in the four games, winning by 20-plus points in each.

Will and Collin Bonner led Belgreen in the win over Sulligent with 15 points each. Belgreen beat Sulligent 51-24.

The Bulldogs beat Phillips 78-36, with Will Bonner leading the way with 23 points. He was followed by Isac Willlingham with 14 points and Scout Bragwell with 12 points.

Belgreen won the first matchup against Hackleburg 67-25. Willingham led the Bulldogs with 16 points, and Collin Bonner and Austin James scored 10 points each.

Bragwell hit five three-pointers and scored 17 points in Belgreen’s second win of the week over the Panthers.  Collin Bonner added 16 points, and Willingham got 12 points.

GIRLS

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs had a great week in hoops action, picking up four wins. The Bulldogs beat Sulligent, Phillips and Hackleburg twice.

Belgreen beat Sulligent 57-46, with Emma Dempsey leading the way with 13 points. Dacota Green added seven points, Makayla Willingham six points, Kaley Chandler six points, Noelle Willingham four points, Morgan Vandiver three points and Madison Vandiver two points.

The Bulldogs took out Phillips in an easy 59-27 win. Dempsey dominated with 28 points. She was followed by Green with 12 points and Chandler with 10 points. Hannah Borden added three points.  Makayla Willingham, Noelle Willingham and Vandiver scored two points each.

In the first game against Hackleburg, Belgreen won 58-49. The Lady Bulldogs led 53-25 going into the fourth quarter, but the Panthers made a comeback, outscoring Belgreen 24-5 to make the game a little closer.  Dempsey led with 22 points followed by Chandler with 14 points and Green with 11 points. Katie Cooper added six points, Noelle Willingham four points and Makayla Willingham one point.

The Panthers made the second contest much closer, with the Bulldogs winning 43-42. The game was tied 23-23 at halftime and stayed tight the rest of the way.

Dempsey led Belgreen with 21 points, followed by Green with 10 points. Noelle Willingham added four points, Makayla Willingham three points, Vandiver three points and Chandler two points.
