Red Bay businesses welcome all for third annual chocolate day

The City of Red Bay will be hosting its third annual Chocolate Day in the Bay Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Red Bay.

Approximately 10 local businesses are anticipated to participate by giving out free samples of chocolate to patrons.

“It’s just a fun time in Red Bay for people to get out and shop for their Valentine and socialize,” explained revenue officer Tracie Clark, who organizes Chocolate Day in the Bay.

Clark said a wide variety of sweet treats will be available at participating businesses and banks. In the past, Red Bay has even had a chocolate fountain.

Clark said the idea was inspired by a similar event in Florence.

“I thought that seemed like a great way to get people to shop at some of these local stores,” Clark said. “I thought it was something that would work well in Red Bay.”

As the word has spread about Chocolate Day in the Bay, more businesses participate and more people come into Red Bay to shop local and enjoy a day of sweet treats.

Masks and social distancing will be required because of the pandemic, but everyone is encouraged to come down to Red Bay and enjoy a day of shopping and sugar.

“We are looking forward to seeing everyone come out,” Clark said. “We want to welcome everyone to Red Bay to be involved.”
