Two standouts propel Belgreen to win over THS

Dacota Green and Noelle Willingham combined for 44 of Belgreen’s points in a 54-42 win over Tharptown Thursday. Green and Willingham scored 22 points each.

Tharptown led Belgreen 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. Green scored all eight of the Bulldogs’ first quarter points.

Tharptown extended the lead to 24-21 at halftime, but Belgreen claimed the lead in the third quarter off 10 points from Willingham and nine points from Green. The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 19-13 to take a 40-37 lead.

Belgreen put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Tharptown 14-5.

Makenna Fisher scored six points for Belgreen. Isabella Tate and Bryn Scott scored two points each.

Sarah Mansell led Tharptown with 10 points. She was followed by Kaitlynn Simmons with nine points, Alyssa Abbott with eight points, Autumn Montgomery with six points, Savannah Romans with five points, Harleigh Borden with two points and Kyndall Morgan with two points.

Belgreen 48, Covenant Christian 45

Willingham scored 21 points in a 48-45 over Covenant Christian this past week, as well.

Belgreen jumped out to a big 24-6 first quarter lead and extended the lead to 39-18 at halftime.

The Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 16-3 in the third quarter to cut Belgreen’s lead to 42-34. Covenant continued to mount a comeback, outscoring Belgreen 11-6 in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs held on.

Fisher added 12 points for Belgreen, followed by Green with seven points, Tate with three points, Scott with three points and Carson Hovater with two points.
