The director of development for the Boys and Girls Club asked Lauderdale County supervisors on Thursday for help improving the club's property.
Patricia Flowers said the administrative offices at 1717 45th Ave., one of three club units in town, needs maintenance and repairs. She said some supervisors and city councilmen already have visited the offices.
Flowers said the club had about $3,000 worth of service done last year on the building's heating and air conditioning unit. She said that the club has been advised to get a new heating and air system.
She also said several maintenance projects are needed, including yard work. She said children who attend the club can help, and that the club has scheduled a cleanup with volunteers later this month.
In January, the Board of Directors of Boys and Girls Clubs of East Mississippi accepted the resignation of its chief professional officer, Darrell Weir.
Lauderdale County clubs have been administered by Flowers; Jacqueline Ball, an administrative assistant; and Gloria Campbell, executive director of Clark County Boys and Girls Club.
Supervisors formed a committee to visit the unit and make recommendations on what needs to be done. Committee members include District 2 Supervisor Jimmie Smith, District 3 Supervisor Craig Hitt and Lauderdale County Engineer Neal Carson.
