Goforth, Bishop in the lead

The first day of play saw low scores in the 2003 Boy Scout Golf Tournament held at Briarwood Country Club on Saturday.
Richard Goforth and Shane Bishop teamed up to shoot a 60 and lead the championship flight for the regular division.
Willie Frazier and Mike Easterwood shot a 61 to close out the first day of the two-day scramble in second place in the championship flight.
The pairs of Andy Mayatt and David Sinclair and Scotty Elliott and Daniel Boles each shot a 62 to close out the top three places in the championship flight.
The tournament also featured a division for father and son pairs and a division for seniors.
Leslie and Vaughn Rush came in with a 62 to take the lead in the championship flight of the father-son division.
Ed and Nicholas Brown finished two strokes back at 64 as did Tom and Randy Warden. Marc Fisher and Derrick Smith and the team of Joe and Steve Stewart are in striking distance after shooting a 65.
Bobby Parker and Fletcher Rosenbaum shot a 66 to take the lead in the senior division.
Doug Martin and Sonny Fisher teamed up to shot a 68 and Don Cagle and Scotty Peek also shot a 68 to close out the top three in the senior division.
82 teams competed on Saturday in the first day of the tournament. Five pairs competed in the senior division and 22 groups played in the father-son division.
The tournament gets back underway today with the first group teeing off a 8:30 a.m. and the afternoon group getting going at 1:30 p.m.
The championship and first flights of the regular division will have the later tee times as will the senior flight and the championship flight of the father-son division.
Leading the first flight of the regular division after the first day was Kerry Goodman and Nick Burkhart with a 68. Six teams are just one stroke back of the team at 69.
Sidney and Steven Bowers and Clint and Bo Fletcher lead the first flight of the father-son division after shooting a 71.
